The Square Altacom extending console table combines substantial proportions with the flexibility of a space-saving dining solution. Rather than disappearing into the interior, Square has a strong architectural presence. Its clean rectangular geometry gives the console a distinctive character both when closed and when fully extended.

Designed by Altacom, Square transforms from a compact console only 40 cm deep into a practical dining table. An aluminium telescopic mechanism is integrated into the structure, while removable extensions allow the table to grow progressively according to the amount of space required.

From compact console to dining table

Square is available in two configurations with either three or five extensions. Both versions measure W 95 × D 40 × H 75 cm when closed.

The Square AC004/190 includes three extensions and opens progressively to 90, 140 and 190 cm.

For larger dining areas, the Square AC004/290 incorporates five extensions. This version can be opened to 90, 140, 190, 240 or 290 cm.

Therefore, Square can remain a compact piece of furniture during everyday use while providing a considerably larger dining surface when required.

Telescopic extending mechanism

At the heart of Square is an aluminium telescopic mechanism. The system allows the console to expand gradually as additional 50 cm extension panels are added.

Central supporting legs provide additional support beneath the tabletop when the console is extended. Altacom uses this system on both versions of Square, creating a practical structure for the different table lengths.

When the additional dining surface is no longer required, the table can return to its compact console format.

Clean and coordinated design

Square features a melamine structure, creating a consistent appearance across the top and base. The straightforward material specification also emphasises the model’s geometric design.

Unlike more decorative extending consoles, Square focuses on strong proportions and simple lines. Consequently, it can work particularly well in contemporary interiors where functional furniture is expected to contribute to the overall architecture of the room.

Its 95 cm width also creates a generous dining surface when opened, while the compact 40 cm closed depth makes it suitable for positioning against a wall when used as a console.
